Drawing 1. 72dpi

Drawing 2. 72dpi

You will spend the day creating a range of your own drawing tools and then use these to make a series of mixed media collages and drawings.

The aim of the workshop is to explore and experiment using mark making techniques so you can be playful, free up your drawing skills, push the boundaries and beyond! We will discover the delights of making marks on a variety of papers with different pigments and explore how using bleach can totally transform them.

Sketchbooks and Journal Making

Sketchbooks

Saturday May 10th 2014

10.00-2.30pm

£38 per person

Spend the day learning how to create scrap-books and journals out of your old fabrics, scrap paper/card and haberdashery. This is a great way to experiment with techniques such a stitch, collage and surface decoration to make something that is personal to you.

Once your range of sheets are complete you start the exciting process of putting your papers and fabrics together and learn how to assemble them into the form of a book.

You can make any size of scrap-book you wish and create it for a special purpose either to keep all those important bits and bobs you can never find a place for, perhaps a sketch book, or maybe a photograph album the choice is yours….! No experience necessary just bring enthusiasm.

Mark-making and Mixed Media Workshop at the Platform Gallery

Just a little peek at what we got up to this weekend at the Platform Gallery and Visitor Information Centre! What a super day….such talented creative people… thankyou for coming everyone!

Watch out for new workshop dates! Hoping to run one of these in Lancaster very soon!

Will keep you posted!

Lovely feed back from participants …

“The mark marking workshop was a great experimental session, which took us back to the very basics of creative practice, reminiscent of art and design in my youth. The tools we created were made out of recycled goods and became fun tools to use in a range of methods and processes. A full day of experimentation in a perfect location and environment with lots of inspirational chats, tea and biscuits.”

“Thank you…. for the course yesterday. I really enjoyed it, and am pleased to have not only ideas for future uses of the techniques but also some pieces to work into!”
