Explore the vast possibilities of working with wire and create your own 3D sculptures, inspired by any theme you wish. You will explore how to manipulate lightweight wire using your hands and pliers to make a range of examples. You will focus on developing your structures with other techniques and processes including fabric, paper, wax, and paint. No experience necessary; all you need to bring is enthusiasm!

Mixed Media Wire Cutlery

Explore the possibilities of making wire cutlery from fabric, wire and wax. During the workshop you will create lots of different shapes from light weight wire that can easily be manipulated with your fingers tips. They can be decorated however you wish using trimmings, buttons and hand-stitch.

All abilities welcome and materials provided just bring enthusiasm!

You will create dainty flowers using wire, fabric and paper, this a great way to use all those old wooden cotton reels that we just can’t throw away. They can be decorated however you wish using trimmings, buttons and hand-stitch. All abilities welcome and materials provided (except cotton reel).

Priscilla creates sculptures that draw upon her life long love affair with here vast collections of odd an curious objects. During this workshop, Priscilla Jones will share with you the creative techniques developed through her own experimentation – so you can create your very own finished piece. Your 3D sculpture can be inspired by whatever theme you wish so do bring an idea along with you to the workshop or let Priscilla’s work inspire you to make your piece. You will learn a range of techniques and processes including how to produce a structure using light weight wire, wax, and fabric. The sculptures can be worked into with hand stitch and embellished with buttons, beads and trimmings. Even fragments of paper or small found objects can also be attached so do bring anything along you would like to work with. This is a perfect opportunity to develop ideas of your own and learn a range of new and exciting techniques! No experience necessary.

The workshop will take place in the cosy tearooms, with all facilities needed to make the day a creative, productive, informative and fun event

The Fee includes all materials, tea, coffee & light lunch. However, please bring your own an apron.

You will make your very own 3D sculpture inspired by whatever theme you wish… using wire, wax, and found ephemera. You will learn a range of processes including how to construct a wire structure that can be in 3D or 2D using light weight wire and then work into this by creating a surface to hand stitch and embellish with paper, buttons, beads and trimmings.

Materials will be provided all you need bring is enthusiasm and some found objects or materials from your own collecting. This is a perfect opportunity to develop ideas you may have started in previous workshops with Priscilla or you may wish to come along and learn a range of new and exciting techniques!

Wire Sculpture Workshop

£50 per person + materials payable to the tutor on the day

Explore the vast possibilities of working with wire and create your own 3D sculptures inspired by any theme you wish. You will explore how to manipulate lightweight wire using your hands and pliers to make a range of examples. You will focus on developing your structures and other techniques and processes including fabric, paper, wax and paint. No experience necessary.

Please bring with you: Apron, old scissors or wire cutters, fabric scissors, pliers if you have them, and light weight fabrics such as silks (either habiti or chiffon work best and old silk scarves are good), hand sewing threads. Also bring an idea to work from, this could be just a theme. If you wish you can also bring the following: old broken jewellery, bits of ceramics, collected oddments from the beach, bits of metal, buttons, haberdashery, trimmings, beads, buttons.
Wire will be available at £2 per pack and silk at £3.50 per pack.
