Curious Creatures

Friday 24th January 11.00 – 4.00pm

Create your very own fairy-tail creature using found materials and ephemera with celebrated artist Priscilla Edwards. During the workshop you will explore the possibilities of making objects that are assembled using fabrics, wire and found oddments anything that you wish to work with that has meaning or holds memories.

All equipment will be provided but you should bring with you a small collection of your own precious fabrics, ephemera, papers, broken china or toys.

Sculptural Spoons

Explore the possibilities of making wire spoons from fabric, wire and wax with award wining artist Priscilla Edwards.

During the workshop you will create lots of different shapes from lightweight wire that can easily be manipulated with your finger tips. You will experiment with using fabric and wax to embellish your spoons and decorate them using trimmings, haberdashery, buttons and hand-stitch.

Priscilla will encourage you to explore your own ideas so please feel free to bring any of your own materials you might like to work with.

Mixed Media Sculpture Course

Wednesdays 18th September – 16th October

Explore the vast possibilities of working with lightweight wire to create small-scale 3D sculptures. Discover how to manipulate wire-using pliers to make structures that can be developed using other materials including fabric, wax, and paint.

Priscilla will share with you the creative techniques developed through her own experimentations and making. Inspired by whatever theme you wish you will explore a variety of materials including wire, wax, and silk to create structures that can be embellish with paper, buttons, beads and found ephemera. Priscilla will support you through the processes and techniques encouraging you to develop personal work.

The course fee includes starter pack of materials – materials are then available to buy at cost from tutor.

Mixed Media Embroidered Hanging Workshop

7th & 14th November 10.30 – 4.00pm

£120 per person including all refreshments

Using various fabrics, acrylic paints and machine stitch you will create a contemporary free machine embroidered hanging for your wall. During the 2 day course you will explore a range of techniques to enable you to produce a finished piece that is personal and will reflect your own ideas. This is fantastic workshop for anyone who would like to explore a mixed media approach to stitched textiles and develop new ways of working. Some sewing experience would be an advantage but not necessary.

If you have a sewing machine with a free embroidery facility please bring along with you or request to borrow a machine when booking your place.

Mixed Media Workshop: Gardens & Birds

Saturday 22nd August 2015

10.00 – 4.00

During the workshop you will explore how to create a mixed media collage using gardens and birds as inspiration. You will create a variety of experimental papers using mixed media techniques: including, mark making and hand printed textures. Using your prepared papers you will experiment with the process of assembling your collage using hand and machine stitch to create a finished image. No previous sewing experience is necessary, however if you do have a sewing machine please bring one.
