Create your very own sketchbook or journal using a range of different papers and fabrics. Each of your pages will be assembled using collage, mixed media and stitch making the book totally unique and personal. You will than learn how to build your book creating a hard cover and use simple Japanese binding techniques to join your pages.
This is a great way to experiment with techniques such as stitch, collage and surface decoration to make something that is personal to you. Once your range of sheets is complete you start the exciting process of putting your papers and fabrics together and learn how to assemble them into the form of a book. You can make any size of scrap-book you wish and create it for a special purpose either to keep all those important bits and bobs you can never find a place for, perhaps a scrap book, or maybe a photograph album the choice is yours….! No experience necessary just bring enthusiasm.
During this workshop, Priscilla Jones will share with you the creative techniques developed through her own experimentation – so you can create your very own finished piece. Your 3D sculpture can be inspired by whatever theme you wish so do bring an idea along with you to the workshop or let Priscilla’s work inspire you to make your piece. You will learn a range of techniques and processes including how to produce a structure using light weight wire, wax, and fabric. The sculptures can be worked into with hand stitch and embellished with buttons, beads and trimmings. Even fragments of paper or small found objects can also be attached so do bring anything along you would like to work with. This is a perfect opportunity to develop ideas of your own and learn a range of new and exciting techniques!
This workshop is for adults, all materials are provided.
