Do you ever feel like you can’t find the inspiration you are looking for to develop your practice? Using a mixed media approach could be the way forward to enable your creativity to flow in a variety of new and exciting ways. Award winning artist Priscilla Jones has spent the last 20 years exploring the endless possibilities of working with fabric, paper, wire, stitch and found materials. Her practice remains firmly rooted in textiles but encompasses a wealth of techniques and processes that focus on changing the nature of the materials she works with. During this workshop Priscilla will take you on a journey of discovery, experimenting and exploring the endless possibilities of working with a lots of different of materials.
On day one you will start by making some images of your own favourite objects using a mixed media approach. You will explore how to colour, paint and wax papers and fabrics creating a variety of grounds.
On day two you will explore how to manipulate and develop your work using wire, stitch and heat techniques to create a variety of textured surfaces producing a finished piece or range of experimental samples.
This course is for those who want to push their own boundaries, take their work in a new direction or develop existing practice.
