Join Priscilla for this fun seasonal workshop creating quirky Christmas robins that ooze character and charm. This workshop introduces you to working with a combination of different materials and techniques that brings together mixed media processes using textiles and stitch to realise your vision. Wire, fabric, paper and wax are used to create your little robin before embellishing it with hand embroidery and vintage buttons.

Curious Creatures

Friday 24th January 11.00 – 4.00pm

£59 per person

Create your very own fairy-tail creature using found materials and ephemera with celebrated artist Priscilla Edwards. During the workshop you will explore the possibilities of making objects that are assembled using fabrics, wire and found oddments anything that you wish to work with that has meaning or holds memories.

All equipment will be provided but you should bring with you a small collection of your own precious fabrics, ephemera, papers, broken china or toys.

Retracing Steps by Decorum & Friends

Decorum was established in 2017 and comprises of 5 textile artists Priscilla Edwards, Val Jackson, Diana Morrison, Yvonne Noworyta and Christine Stanford, all graduating from the BA Embroidery and MA Textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University.

For this exhibition they are joined by 4 more mixed media artists, Elizabeth Couzins Scott, James Fox, Sally Payne and Rosie Wates.

All these artists have come together to explore personal journeys that trace intimate memories and individual narratives.

Ulverston Knits & Stitches

I’m so delighted to be exhibiting at this years Knits & Stitches so do join me for a full day of Knitting and Stitching heaven in the fabulous Coronation Hall. There will be quality stall holders from across the region bringing advice and supplies to create your next project. There will also be sales of beautifully hand crafted items.  There will be displays of lovingly created items from local groups to whet your crafting appetite. Come with friends – stay for the day –  you will adore the cake and fancies from the Vintage Village Hall pop up vintage tea room.

Mixed Media Sculpture Workshop

Saturday 1st June 10.30 – 4.30pm

£70 per person including all materials and refreshments

Priscilla will share with you the creative techniques developed through her own experimentations. During the workshop you will make your very own 3D sculpture inspired by whatever theme you wish, using wire, wax, fabric and found ephemera – finishing off your beautiful piece with further embellishment including paper, buttons, beads and trimmings. Materials will be provided all you need bring is enthusiasm and some found objects or materials from your own collecting.

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th March 10.30 – 4:00 pm

£130 per person including all refreshments

Using various fabrics, acrylic paints and machine stitch you will create a contemporary free machine embroidered hanging for your wall. During the 2 day course you will explore a range of techniques to enable you to produce a finished piece that is personal and will reflect your own ideas.

Day 1 – You will have a fun day experimenting with the possibilities of mixing media buy painting and printing on your fabrics ready to stitch together in your desired composition.Using various fabrics, acrylic paints and machine stitch you will create a contemporary free machine embroidered hanging for your wall. During the 2 day course you will explore a range of techniques to enable you to produce a finished piece that is personal and will reflect your own ideas.

Day 2 – Priscilla will guide you through the process of creating an image from your painted and printed fabrics – drawing on her vast experience of combining colour, shape and texture. She will then demonstrate the joy of drawing with stitch to embellish your creations and share tips on how machine embroidery can add new surface qualities to your textile art!

This is fantastic workshop for anyone who would like to explore a mixed media approach to stitched textiles and develop new ways of working. Some sewing experience would be an advantage but not necessary. Please bring your sewing machine with a free embroidery facility,  plus a collection of fabrics you wish to work with.  All other materials are provided in the course fee.

Sculptural Spoons

Saturday 23rd March 10.30 – 1.00pm

Explore the possibilities of making wire teaspoons from fabric, wire and wax. During the workshop you will create lots of different shapes from light weight wire that can easily be manipulated with your fingers tips. They can be decorated however you wish using trimmings, buttons and hand-stitch.

All abilities welcome and materials provided just bring enthusiasm!
